Chanel Healthy Pink No. 1 Lip & Cheek Balm Review & Swatches

healthy pink (2)

Chanel Healthy Pink (2) No. 1D Chanel Lip & Cheek Moisturizer ($45.00 for 0.23 oz) is a medium peach with moderate and warm undertones that looked more pink on my lips and slightly more peachy and more orangey on my cheeks. The finish was much rarer on my lips and more satin-like on my cheeks, as it seemed to melt into my skin and lose some of the shine and luster, while on my lips, it seemed to melt and become softer.

It had a semi-transparent and buildable pigment paired with a slightly tacky, spreadable texture that wasn’t too thick or too thin. It applies evenly and blends well as a cheek product on bare skin as well as over foundation. The product went on evenly across my lips with a bit of the product settling into my lip lines but not enough to be personally visible. It wore well for seven hours as a cheek product and two and a half hours as a lip balm (and it was a moisturizer).

Formula overview

$45.00 / 0.23 oz. – $195.65 an ounce

The formula is supposed to have a “buttery nourishing formula” that “melts into the skin” and adds a “touch of colour.” The brand recommended applying it to the lips and/or cheeks, although it can be used with a fine brush if desired. I’ve found that fingertips work well for both methods, although as a lip product I could have seen a more perfect stand-alone lip brush (I feel like I need more product on my lips than on my cheeks).

The texture was like a thick gel with noticeable viscosity, so I was very surprised that the product set well on top of the foundation and was not prone to lifting. On my cheeks, it dried out noticeably, but not completely, so it had a silky sheen but didn’t appear as dewy as it was initially applied. On my lips, it kept more of the shine for longer, but it wasn’t as long-lasting as a lip product.

It had a semi-transparent and buildable pigment, which was easily achieved on my lips. The light viscosity and thickness of the product seem to help it work well on my lips because a lot of tinted lip balms are often too thin to be prone to settling into my lip lines or picking up texture imperfections.

They lasted seven to eight hours as a cheek product before migrating a bit, lasted two to four hours as a lip product and were hydrating to wear.
