MAC Enveloped in Luck & If Wishes Were Roses Powder Kiss Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

MAC Aveneloped Luck Powder Kiss Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) A medium-dark pink beige with warm, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had medium coverage for the color, which was fairly buildable, paired with a velvety, lightweight and fluffy texture that’s more likely to pick up imperfections and settling into lip lines, so you’ll want to exfoliate at least before you wear it. It lasted for two and a half hours and did not dry out.

Formula overview

$22.00 / 0.1 oz. – $220.00 an ounce

MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.10 oz.) It’s supposed to feel “weightless” with “a blur of soft-focus, easy color.” According to the brand, the formula “provides instant and long-lasting hydration” while “camouflaging[ring] lines and smooth[ing] lips” and has “zero sheen”. It has quite a bit of sheen and slip; I wouldn’t call it zero-gloss as much as it is very soft and looks like a natural or smooth matte finish. Like any finish with a slight sheen, they have worn off to a matte finish. Flattered more within an hour or so of wear. The consistency was lightweight, thin, and velvety with very little slip (a bit like a silicone primer) and they were comfortable to wear with not drying to a lightly moisturizing feel.

The tint ranged from semi-opaque to opaque with deeper shades having more coverage. There were a few shades that were very light, which were not applied evenly and tended to pick up any imperfections on my lips, while the deeper shades went on smoothly and looked more flattering because they were less likely to emphasize texture. It lasted between two and a half and six hours with deeper shades and, unsurprisingly, it lasted longer than the very light ones.

Personally, I found the smell of this stuff to be noticeably different, both sweeter and less vanilla based, but I also got a strong chewy scent. The smell didn’t last long, so it wasn’t something I discovered throughout the wear period, but it had a strong, sweet taste that was present until its demise. Other readers who have smelled the scent personally didn’t catch any rubbery/impermeable smell (my husband thought it was a strange smell, not bad per se, but couldn’t be more specific), and when I went back to check out each shade, every one of mine didn’t. He still has that rubbery note.

MAC If Wishes Were Roses Powder Kiss Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) is a light pinkish red with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had a medium color payoff that could be built into a semi-opaque second coat coverage. The consistency was lightweight, fluffy and more velvety with a heavy sliver of silicone that doesn’t tolerate lip texture. It wore well for three and a half hours and did not dry out.
