MAC Oh Goodie & Can You Tell Lustreglass Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

MAC Oh Judy Lustereglass Sheer Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) is a medium pinkish light coral with moderate to warm undertones and a creamy finish. The color payoff was mostly opaque and buildable, although it was meant to be sheer. Its texture was lightweight, fluffy (without being sticky) and emollient enough to glide on, although it didn’t apply as evenly as ideal. It wore well for four hours, but was marketed to last for eight hours (which would have been a pretty cool feat for this type of fixture).

Formula overview

$22.00 / 0.1 oz. – $220.00 an ounce

The formula is supposed to have “sheer, buildable color” that’s hydrating, while long-wearing with “six hours” of shine and “eight hours” of color.

First and foremost, this one has an unexpectedly long standing claim. Eight hours of wear is an amazing feat for any lipstick, not to mention it’s sheer, brighter, and more hydrating. It’s probably no shock that they haven’t worn for nearly eight hours. The wear period ranged from three to four hours, which was in line with other brighter formulas with a similar level of coverage and was a bit longer than the average Luster lipstick in the past (although more in line with the recently released Lustres).

The updated look of shimmery matte finish is more hydrating, creamy, and more even coverage. Its texture is still lighter and thinner compared to other MAC lipsticks and most other lipstick formulas on the market. The colors brought back in the new formula were more or less compatible with previous versions.

Most of the shades were evenly applied, didn’t seem to pick up or emphasize texture imperfections on my lips, and weren’t prone to settling into my lip lines. However, the current range is heavier in the mid-tones, and very light shades are often the cause of both.

Coverage ranged from semi-sheer to medium, and most shades were buildable to semi-opaque coverage, although they tended to wear to medium coverage within an hour or so of wear. I found that once some of the shine faded, for example, if someone drank from a glass of water or dried a little, the color left was more like the initial coat of the product.

It smelled of vanilla but did not have a distinct taste.

MAC Can You Tell Lipstick Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) is a medium coral with warmer undertones and a natural luster. It had medium and buildable pigmentation, which was more in line with the sheer, buildable coverage it was marketed for. The lipstick was lightweight and hydrating yet delicate and comfortable to use and wear.

I was impressed with how it didn’t cling to the texture as much as I expected, although you’ll want to exfoliate beforehand for the best application. Although the product didn’t last anywhere close to the eight hours marketed, it did last for three and a half hours and over time felt lightly hydrated.
