MAC Pure Luck & Push Your Luck Powder Kiss Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

MAC Pure Luck Powder Kiss Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) is a medium-dark red with neutral to cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had translucent to medium pigmentation paired with a light, thin texture that wasn’t clingy but wasn’t the most forgiving lipstick so be sure to peel it off before wearing it. It stayed fine for four hours and did not feel dry over time.

MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.10 oz.) It’s supposed to feel “weightless” with “a blur of soft-focus, easy color.” According to the brand, the formula “provides instant and long-lasting hydration” while “camouflaging[ring] lines and smooth[ing] lips” and has “zero sheen”. It has very little sheen and slip; I wouldn’t call it zero-gloss as much as it is very soft and looks like a natural or smooth matte finish. Like any other low-sheen finish, they’ve worn off to a matte finish. Flattered more within an hour or so of wear. The consistency was lightweight, thin, and velvety with very little slip (a bit like a silicone primer) and they were comfortable to wear with not drying to a lightly moisturizing feel.

The tint ranged from semi-opaque to opaque with deeper shades having more coverage. There were a few shades that were very light, which were not applied evenly and tended to pick up any imperfections on my lips, while the deeper shades went on smoothly and looked more flattering because they were less likely to emphasize texture. It lasted between two and a half and six hours with deeper shades and, unsurprisingly, it lasted longer than the very light ones.

Personally, I found the smell of this stuff to be noticeably different, both sweeter and less vanilla based, but I also got a strong chewy scent. The smell didn’t last long, so it wasn’t something I discovered throughout the wear period, but it had a strong, sweet taste that was present until its demise. Other readers who have smelled the scent personally didn’t catch any rubbery/impermeable smell (my husband thought it smelled weird and not bad per se, but couldn’t be more specific), and when I went back to check them all out. Shadow, every one of me still had that rubbery note.

MAC Push Your Luck Powder Kiss Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.1 oz) is a brighter medium coral with warmer, buff undertones and a satin color. Its texture was velvety thin and I felt the weight of the silicone, so it slid across my lips but appeared a bit “crumpy” in the close-up, although it didn’t feel that way when I pressed my lips together. It had a semi-opaque color coverage that was applied fairly evenly but pulled into my lip lines somewhat. This shade lasted really well for four hours and didn’t feel dry or hydrated.
